Volunteer Roles

We cannot do anything without the help and support of our volunteers. We have a range of people who kindly give up what time they can to help drive the Foundation forward.

We are pleased to share some of their stories but are also looking for more people to help out on a regular or adhoc event basis.

We have the following 2025 event roles available...

  • Golf Marshalls

  • Forever 32 Walk Marshalls

  • Football referees

If would like to know more on how to become involved in the Foundation, kindly email our trustees and they will respond to you.

Megan Williams

Volunteer and Social Media Co-ordinator

Megan is our social media expert! Getting all communications out to the wider world. Her work has meant people from all over the UK and worldwide have seen our charity and this has lead to people needing our help, being able to get in touch! Without Megan's work, we wouldn't be where we are today. We have celebrity follows, close connections with other charity organizations and a whole online community!

Megan's why: I volunteer for the KLS Foundation and I will forever do whatever I can to keep her name alive and spread awareness of the support we offer and the charities we work closely with to try and make a positive difference to peoples lives. Kirsty is my beautiful big sister who was always there for everyone. Unfortunately she is no longer here to do that, so volunteering with the foundation, doing what we can to raise funds to support all different types of people and continuing Kirsty’s legacy, is something I love to do.

Fun fact: Megan chose Kirsty’s dress

Abi.jpg

Abi Hopkins

Volunteer

Abi is one of our long-standing volunteers. She has been a great support with connections to help our events run smoothly and get us support from specialist areas, as well as being a big fund raiser for the KLSF. Abi’s main support has been with the charity balls, being one of the main organizers each year, to which we are very grateful. She also obtained us the legendary golf trophy!

Abi’s why: Kirsty is one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met, with the most positive attitude. She never failed to make me belly laugh and I knew she would be there for me whatever, whenever, wherever I needed - for that reason alone I’ll forever do what I can to support and volunteer for the Kirsty Louise Streek foundation. It’s so important for me to keep her memory alive because it’s the least she deserves.

Memory: I have the most incredible memories with Kirsty, from travelling south east Asia and sharing a single bed to all of our festival days but my absolute favourite memories are just going to her house, her cooking dinner (because she was the best) and me taking a grilling on my whole life, trust me she asked a lot of questions ha but those memories are the most precious for me x

George Winch

Website Volunteer

George kindly sponsors and volunteers to run our website. As the Foundation grows, the website has become more important to help promote our events and new merchandise line. The site also keeps you up-to-date on how the Foundation is helping those people struggling and the events we are running which you can all participate in.

George's why: I got to know Kirsty through our relationship with Locksheath Pumas rugby club. She was always great fun around the team and a true professional with her physio skills putting the guys back together after a game. I was happy to contribute and attend as many of the events I could run by the Foundation, but I had some knowledge of how to run a website so saw this as a better opportunity to contribute plus help deliver a great website platform for the foundation. If you have any further feedback on the site please let me know at support@bemorekirsty.org and keep watching as we look to add more new features and great stories.

Jen.JPG

Jen Evans

Volunteer

Jen is one of our longstanding volunteers. She has been a big supporter since before we decided to set up the charity. Jen has helped with our raffles, fund raising and bringing new people to events. Her main role has been with our annual Charity Ball, being one of the main contributors in making what have been fantastic events.

Jens why: Kirsty was one of my most loyal, caring, supportive friends. There really was no one that did friendship the way Kirsty did. Kirsty was who I called for the good times, the bad times and the silly times. She would support you no matter what and that's the reason I'll do whatever I can to support the charity and keep her memory alive. I have some incredible memories with Kirsty, lucky enough to travel the world with her whether it be backpacking south east Asia or our regular girls trips to Spain. We have some incredible memories but some of my fondest memories are the little things, our pumpkin picking and carving tradition, face masks and pizza nights in, her cooking me dinner with sprouts because they're my favourite, shopping trips and wardrobe clear outs, magic mike film nights and belly laughs. That's the things I miss the most.

Fun fact: Fun fact during our single days together, we spent many nights in each other's beds but when we weren't we text each other 'nun night, love you' followed by a green heart for me and a yellow for her every night for a year. Often a new conversation begun and we had to do it again several times. I guess it came to a natural end as we started seeing people. I wish we never stopped and I hope she always knew how much I really did love her.

Claire.JPG

Claire Hayward

Volunteer

Claire has been a volunteer since day one, she has helped in all areas. Claire is our go to logo maker. Enabling all those out representing KLSF at events, have the logo on their outfit. She was also co-driver for the IOW walk reccie. Which was one of the funniest drives Kent and Sharon have ever witnessed. Claire always puts her hand up to support. Whether it's baking, creating, driving or supporting, she is there!

Claire’s why: To continue her memory. She was the first one to do something for others, so the best thing I can do is to continue that. My thought being, what would Kirsty do?? We could all ‘Be More Kirsty’. x

Katie.jpg

Katie Baldwin

Financial Co-ordinator

Katie has come in to support the Charity with its financial responsibility and financial reporting. Katie helps ensure we get all of the paperwork done correctly, to enable us to meet the high standards we expect of ourselves. With Katie’s support, we can ensure that we utilise our funds in the best way to make the biggest impact for people in the Cancer & MS community.

Katie’s why: I volunteer for the Kirsty Louise Streek Foundation to honor the memory of a close friend and help ensure her legacy lives on. I first met Kirsty through my wife, who was one of her close friends. From that moment, Kirsty quickly became one of my favorite people. Her infectious laugh, radiant smile, and wise advice left a lasting impression on me. She also had a knack for planning amazing honeymoons, often suggesting I cancel and rebook hotels to save money—thanks to her, we had the most incredible trip across America. Kirsty’s laughter was so contagious that it would draw me downstairs just to see what was so funny and catch up on the latest gossip. She brought so much joy and warmth into our lives, even witnessing our marriage. Volunteering for her foundation is my way of giving back to a cause that means so much to me, just as Kirsty meant so much to us.

Fun fact: Despite being just 5'2" and relatively small, I can really pack away the food! I've taken on several chicken nugget challenges and out-eaten grown men - my current record stands at 39. But my crowning achievement was winning an eating contest by downing 17 hot dogs in one sitting. If you know me, you’ll know it’s something you have to see to believe.

loila and rob.JPG

Lola and Rob Fuller

Volunteers

Lola and Rob are our specialist runners. Helping with putting out banners, supporting the walkers on our annual walk and getting trustees to meetings, events etc. They have done some of the less pretty behind-the-scenes jobs and we are forever thankful!
